Brilliant story telling, and an amazing body of work.
Happy Birthday Pentagram

Yes!
I’m off to the Mark Porter talk at the end of the month.
This should be a good one.
I was privileged last night to hear a truly inspiring talk by Hans Wolbers from Dutch agency Lava, on behalf of Long Lunch.
It was really interesting to hear Hans talk about their client relationships, how they create and present work and how they mange this with out account managers.
I loved the concept they came up with for the National History Museum (INNL) and how they used every opportunity to relay interesting facts, for example if the customer is given a ticket number, on the reverse of the ticket stump the number becomes a year with some historical facts from that year. Another example, a paper coffee cup has some type explaining about the Dutch coffee trade and so on.
I came out of that talk feeling truly inspired and realising I have a long way to go.
[We got there early enough to have a quick look around the Terence Conran show, which is so good, I’m going to have to return for a proper look.]

Erik Spiekermann has designed this handy chart to convert the oddities that are US and English none metric measuring systems.

Thought this made for an interesting read.
It’s the result of a year long experiment by With Associates, which saw them completely redesign, rethink their website every month for a year.
Here are their findings neatly summed up in 11 points -
ManvsMachine have created a new brand identity for channel 4’s More 4.
The new logo morphs through flipping and folding. These installations are shot in different environments from domestic shots of staircases to abandoned fishing boats.
To achieve this ManvsMachine worked with Jason Bruges studio to build a flexible systems of over 400 individual flipper units.
It’s amazing! And works so well, both as a stand alone logo and in all the ident film shots.
